New running festival launched in Bury St Edmunds!

Bury St Edmunds will host an exciting new running festival this autumn.

HaverSports, which has delivered the Haverhill Running Festival since 2014, is teaming up with Unique Bars to deliver the new St Eds’ Running Festival.

Taking place on Sunday 29 October, the festival will include a half marathon, full marathon, 10 kilometre and fun run races, all in aid of both Bury Town Pastors and My WiSH Charity which supports West Suffolk Hospital.

The running festival will be held at Abbeycroft Leisure’s new Skyliner Sports Centre in Moreton Hall, offering runners the opportunity to run out through the surrounding picturesque Suffolk countryside of Thurston, Pakenham and Great Barton.

Dominic Creffield, Managing Director of Unique Bars, said: “We see a lot of Bury Town Pastors and are aware of the good work done by My WiSH Charity, so we were keen to be involved in an event raising money for these two great charities.

“We’re also keen to encourage people to get active and are looking forward to welcoming hundreds of runners to Bury St Edmunds this autumn.”

Abbeycroft Leisure Health and Physical Activity Development Manager, Matt Hickey said: “Our new facility at Skyliner is an exciting addition to what Abbeycroft offers and an ideal opportunity to provide leisure activities for the expanding population of Bury St Edmunds.

“We’ve partnered with HaverSports previously to deliver triathlon festivals in Bury St Edmunds and Mildenhall, in addition to the Haverhill Running Festival, so we hope to see that partnership continue to flourish and for a successful inaugural running festival to be delivered here in Bury St Edmunds.”

HaverSports Director, Jack Tappin, added: “Bury St Edmunds already has a great running club and a thriving running scene so we’re exciting to be able to offer this event in the town.

“We saw good support for our triathlon here last year so we hope that will continue with the new running festival, and that runners both young and old, new and experienced can come to enjoy this new leisure centre and the gorgeous countryside of Suffolk while raising money for these two great charities.”

Sue Smith fundraising manager of My WiSH Charity said; “We are absolutely delighted to be working with HaverSports and the Bury Town Pastors.

“We believe that staying fit and healthy is the perfect way to stay out of hospital, and this event is a great way of promoting that.”
